EEO Representation on NIH Search Committees

Representatives from our office serve as essential ex-officio members of NIH’s search committees. They offer invaluable guidance on equal employment opportunity (EEO) topics, including legal matters, for all Title 5 and Title 42 positions.

To request a representative, please email SearchCommitteeRequests@od.nih.gov.

Hiring decisions must be free from bias related to race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), national origin, disability, age (age 40 or older), or genetic information. Some of the federal EEO laws that protect applicants and employees from unlawful employment discrimination, include:

  • The Equal Pay Act of 1963

  • Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964

  • The Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967

  • Sections 501 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973

  • The Genetic Information Nondiscrimination in Employment Act of 2008

  • The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act of 2022
