Someone Else’s Shoes, featuring Dr. Cheryl Walker-McGill, scheduled for Wednesday, February 7, 2024, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm EST.

Tune in Wednesday, February 7 at 12 p.m. as the NIH Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion hosts an enlightening webinar that features Dr. Cheryl Walker-McGill, the executive producer of the acclaimed documentary “Someone Else’s Shoes.”

According to Dr. Walker-McGill’s website, the film focuses on the establishment of St. Agnes Hospital, which is one of the first Black-owned and operated hospitals in Raleigh, North Carolina. The hospital provided vital medical services to the Black community and helped address the many challenges they faced, including discrimination and inadequate access to health care.

The film is a powerful and inspiring story that celebrates the achievements of Black pioneers in the field of health care and offers valuable insights and context for anyone interested in the history of health care in North Carolina as well as a broader struggle for social justice and equality.

Join us in February to hear directly from Dr. Walker-McGill about her career and what inspired her to create the documentary. This event promises to be an engaging journey into the experiences and contributions of Black medical professionals. Q&A session to follow.
