First EDI Director’s Speaker Series: Yvonne Thompson Maddox, Ph.D.
Join us online on May 10, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. ET for the launch of our EDI Director’s Speaker Series. With the purpose to foster greater diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA), NIH and EDI aim to promote cultural awareness and provide learning opportunities for our community through this new series. This event is for NIH Employees Only.
Over the next year, speakers from across the government and the private sector will engage with us on a variety of DEIA-related topics. We hope you will participate.
Our first speaker is a voice familiar to the NIH community, Yvonne Thompson Maddox, Ph.D. Prior to her retirement from NIH, Dr. Maddox served in multiple capacities, including as the Deputy Director of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, the Acting Deputy Director of NIH, and the Acting Director of the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities. Most recently, Dr. Maddox was appointed as the Senior Strategic Advisor for the NIH Path to Excellence and Innovation Initiative an effort aimed at equipping Historically Black Colleges and Universities with tools and resources needed to successfully compete for NIH funding opportunities.
For years, Dr. Maddox has displayed an unwavering commitment to health disparities research and advancing DEIA efforts at NIH and across the United States.
